Dr. Stephen Goldbas is passionate about his work as an osteopathic physician. He has dedicated most of his professional life to this work. Applying an eclectic and disciplined approach Dr. Goldbas is uniquely qualified to provide exceptional osteopathic skills in the service of your best health.
Dr. Goldbas attended Cornell University for his undergraduate work. From the traditional athletic world of football and wrestling he became fascinated with the movement and athleticism of modern dance. He received a choreographer’s fellowship to study at NYU’s Tisch school of the performing Arts before moving to Maine and joining the Ram Island Dance Company.
After several years performing and choreographing many dances, Dr. Goldbas was injured and introduced to osteopathy as a patient. This experience and others led him to medical school where he found his practical experience working with the body as a dancer complemented the traditional hands-on training of an osteopathic physician.
Since 1991, Dr. Goldbas has practiced as a DO with a specialty of osteopathy in the cranial field (known in layman’s terms as cranial sacral therapy). From the earliest part of his career he was involved as a medical educator. As director of medical education at a family medicine residency program he trained many doctors. He then joined the faculty at UNECOM (University of New England’s College of Osteopathic Medicine) his alma mater. Dr. Goldbas later joined a private group practice in Freeport, BWMF where he was part of an interdisciplinary team.
In August 2020 Dr. Goldbas has started a private practice. Utilizing his skills and insight developed over years he looks forward to continuing to work with his current patients and welcoming new.
